I designed this because I was sick of not finding things for my little Lesbian Jamaican self.
We have been pushed into the background for too long.
I chose to paint ackee because it’s the national fruit. and just like this fruit we begin our journey closed up, hiding our true selves. but when we finally find ourselves and open up to the world - we are deliciously unique.
we are a vital part of the Jamaican diaspora and deserve to be celebrated.
This circle sticker is to remind you that Jamaicans be gay - and we aren’t gonna make the homophobia of others keep us from protecting the little gay Jamaicans coming up behind us - we will always let them know that they are not alone.
